At the first-ever GS1 Nordic Summit in Oslo, Nordic Initiative was invited to share how stronger alignment between merchants, GS1 and nexo standards can help create more efficient, interoperable and cost-effective customer journeys across the Nordics.
The GS1 Nordic Summit brought together approximately 450 participants from across the Nordic region, highlighting the growing importance of common standards in an increasingly interconnected retail ecosystem.
Representing Nordic Initiative, Erik Marcus Torkildsen shared how the work undertaken by Nordic merchants through Nordic Initiative and the Merchant Advisory Committee is helping bridge the gap between business needs and industry standards.
A key message was the potential of GS1 standards, including the Global Location Number (GLN), to play a broader role in areas such as payments, identity, interoperability and future customer journeys.
The presentation also highlighted the growing alignment between GS1 and nexo standards. As global standardisation organisations, both are working towards a common goal: reducing fragmentation and creating scalable solutions that benefit merchants, solution providers and consumers alike.
For Nordic Initiative, this work is about more than technology. It is about creating a stronger merchant voice and ensuring that future infrastructure is built on common foundations that enable innovation, competition and cost-effective customer experiences.
The dialogue continues through Nordic Initiative, the Merchant Advisory Committee and our ongoing engagement with both GS1 and nexo standards.
