Code of Conduct for 
Nordic Initiative (“NI”)
Introduction

Nordic Initiative (“NI”) is a community of merchants, primarily operating in the Nordic area, that share a common goal of being the reference for retail excellence. NI is set out to bring high achievers together to collaboratively solve sector challenges. NI itself is not a legal entity, and its touchpoints are ad-hoc based collectively financed meetups, meetings, and expeditions.

The NI community is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This Code of Conduct outlines the principles that govern the activities under the NI concept, which participating entities are expected to abide by. It is designed to ensure that all participants act in a manner that is consistent with our values of integrity, respect, and responsibility, as well as enabling them to trust that other participants do the same.

Ethics

Integrity and Professionalism: All participants shall conduct their engagement with integrity, honesty, and fairness. No one shall engage in practices that are deceitful, misleading, or otherwise unethical.

Conflicts of Interest: Participants must avoid conflicts of interest or the appearance thereof in any NI engagement. Participants shall disclose any potential conflicts to NI and recuse themselves from any processes where such conflicts may have an impact.

Confidentiality: Participants shall strive to not share any confidential information through NI. 

Should any participant in an event come into possession of any confidential information, participant shall maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information entrusted to them by the NI or its partners, except when authorized or legally required to disclose such information.

Anti-Corruption

Compliance with Anti-Corruption Laws: Participants  shall comply with all applicable anti-corruption laws. No participant shall, directly or indirectly, offer or make any illegal payments or benefits to any government officials, business partners, or other individuals in any NI engagement or event.

Gifts and Hospitality: Participants  must exercise caution in giving or receiving gifts or hospitality, and a general principle in NI is that participant pay their own way.

Anti-Slavery and Workers' Rights

Prohibition of Forced Labor: Participants shall not use or benefit from forced or compulsory labor. All work in relation to the NI must be voluntary, and workers shall have the freedom to terminate their employment in accordance with established laws and without penalty.

Child Labor: Participants shall not engage in or benefit from child labor. The employment of young workers below the age of 18 shall only occur in non-hazardous conditions and when such employment is allowed by local law.

Working Conditions: Participants  shall provide a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. They shall comply with all applicable laws regarding working hours, wages, and benefits.

Non-Discrimination: Participants  shall not discriminate in hiring and employment practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or any other protected class.

Competition Law

Participants  shall not participate in meetings, conversations, or agreements that may be seen as an attempt to unlawfully restrain or distort competition.

The NI shall not in any way act to combine purchasing power by commonly aligning or negotiating prices or in any other way illegally disrupt free competition.

Implementation and Compliance

Responsibility: All participants  are responsible for understanding and adhering to this Code of Conduct. 

Reporting Violations: Participants  should report any suspected violations of this Code to the NI's Secretariat. Reports can be made anonymously and will be treated confidentially.

Disciplinary Actions: Violations of this Code may result in termination of participation.
